Two NSP rejections: one bank, one database
🎓 Lalduhawmi (Duha), 19, from Aizawl, BA Political Science at Mizoram University. Scored 78% on HSCE. Applied for NSP Post-Matric ST scholarship. Got two rejections in two weeks — not because she wasn't eligible, but because of two separate database/system misalignments. Both were fixable. Both required different escalation paths.

🚨 The problem
NSP performs a three-way match for DBT: NSP form data, Aadhaar, bank account. All three must match exactly. Duha's SBI account was opened at 16 with "L. Duhawmi" (abbreviated). Her Aadhaar showed "Lalduhawmi" (full name). NSP flagged mismatch and rejected. That was problem #1. She fixed it at SBI. Then came problem #2: NSP queried AISHE for enrollment confirmation. Mizoram University's data hadn't yet updated (4–8 week lag). Second rejection. Different system, different fix.
🚀 How GabFORGE helped
The AI recognized two separate problems with two separate remedies:
- 🔍 Identified the bank account name as the first bottleneck. NSP requires exact match. Aadhaar is immutable (practically). Bank account must change. SBI home branch, Aadhaar + HSCE mark sheet + name correction letter, 3–7 days.
- 💬 Found the AISHE manual verification workaround. Not a resubmit (would fail again). Not waiting (4–8 weeks). Official NSP process: email manual verification team with admission letter + AISHE code. Response 2–5 days.
- 📞 Identified parallel state scholarship. Mizoram SCSTE scholarship: ₹3,600/year, independent of NSP, no AISHE requirement.
✅ Outcome (September 8): SBI updated account July 29 (5 days). Resubmitted NSP July 1 — rejected again August 15. Manual verification email sent August 20. NSP approved August 30. State scholarship approved same month. Total: ₹12,600/year (₹9,000 NSP + ₹3,600 state) for her BA degree.
🇮🇳 Why this matters
India's scholarship systems are a collection of separately maintained databases. NSP relies on AISHE, which relies on institutions, which process data on government timelines. Banks maintain their own KYC records separately. When these systems don't sync, students face rejections that feel arbitrary—but they're actually design gaps. Knowing which system owns which problem, and finding the official workaround for each, is the difference between ₹0 and ₹12,600/year.
The long version has the Mizo explanation of NSP's three-way database match, the SBI branch visit with documents, the NSP manual verification email template, and Duha's sister explaining which thread to pull.
