The NSP account locked by a school email that no longer existed

🚨 The problem

NSP's OTR system is designed for convenience — register once, renew annually without reapplication. But it assumes your contact information (school email, home phone number) remains active for years. For a student who changed schools, changed SIM, and moved to college, that assumption breaks. The account has a hard security wall: you can't reset your password without OTP verification, and OTP goes to the unreachable contact. You're locked in by a security feature designed to protect you.

The AI identified two parallel paths, both unconventional but both documented in the system:

• 🔍 Found the DNO escalation channel. Every NSP scholarship is verified by a District Nodal Officer. The DNO has authority to request manual contact detail resets from NIC. Harjot submitted: formal complaint letter + college enrollment proof + Aadhaar. The DNO verified and lodged the request.
• 💬 Identified the Chandigarh Admin parallel scheme. While waiting for NIC's 10–15 day manual reset, Harjot applied to the Chandigarh Administration's separate state scholarship (₹18,000/year, independent portal, standard password reset). No OTR legacy, no locked account. Different database entirely.
• 📞 Clarified the dual-track strategy. File DNO complaint (primary path, slower but guaranteed). Apply to state scholarship immediately (backup path, faster). If NSP resets in time, claim NSP (₹20,000). If state scholarship approves first, claim that. No double-claiming (scholarship rules forbid it).

✅ Outcome (September 30th deadline): DNO request submitted July 26. NIC reset completed August 7 (12 days). Chandigarh Admin scholarship approved August 1 (7 days, while NSP was being reset). NSP re-applied August 8. Both scholarships available: NSP ₹20,000 + Chandigarh Admin ₹18,000. Harjot claimed NSP (higher amount), cancelled Chandigarh Admin to avoid double-claiming.

Password reset assumes you still have access to your registered contact. But students' lives change — school emails disappear, SIM cards get replaced, phone numbers shift. The NSP system has built-in escalation for this (district level). And Chandigarh has a parallel state scholarship that doesn't depend on NSP's legacy database. The system has redundancy. You just have to find it.
